Lost in Translation

What does it mean to say that aspects of a text are 'lost in translation' from one language to another?

To be lost in translation means that when translating one text from one language to another, that the true meaning can be lost while translating. For example, some writers choose to have creative freedom in translation. Others choose to stick directly to the text. Some even try to respect the culture in order to get the true meaning. Hence, when three different translators translate the same text, their meanings can all turn out completely different.
